Foundation Interface Europe for Research and Innovation : Official Launch

Echoing the launching of a new European Commission forum – The European Forum on Philanthropy and Research Funding –, Interface Europe is delighted to announce the creation of the Foundation Interface Europe for Research and Innovation .

Research and innovation are widely acknowledged as being intimately connected and of paramount importance to the future success of Europe. To contribute to achieving this, and at the same time to fostering a strong European identity, Foundation Interface Europe for Research and Innovation is to be established in Brussels as an independent, non-profit body.

It aims to provide an open independent forum where public and private organisations from different sectors can freely discuss, exchange views, learn from each other and about each other - for the promotion and further development of the European Research Area (ERA) and the realisation of the Lisbon strategy.

This new Foundation will be one of the first to focus on both Research and Innovation at European level. It will be chaired by Dr Dorothy Guy-Ohlson, former Scientific Advisor to the European Commission (DG Research).

Speakers will be invited from different representative backgrounds, including different sectors and countries. Planned activities will include the organisation or co-organisation of creative-thinking and open-discussion seminars, workshops and conferences on topics which will vary greatly and include not only policy but also scientific and industrial themes of current interest and debate at European level.

We look forward to providing you with more information about the activities of Foundation Interface Europe in forthcoming newsletters.
